Starting with just a few members in 1961, the Tulsa
Ski Club was formed as a nonprofit organization to
promote the common interest of skiing. Over the years
our membership has grow to an organization of more than
700 memberships representing approximately 1,500
persons. As the club's membership has increased, so have
the variety of activities. Today we are also a social
and activities club.
Activities range from monthly
Skiers' Night Out (SNO) at the best clubs and
restaurants around town, to organized trips that are
widely diversified in cost and location. The last few
years has seen the ski club sponsoring trips to places
as close as the Illinois River or as far away as
Innsbruck, Austria and Interlaken, Switzerland. Mode of
travel includes sleeper buses, aircraft, canoes, rafts,
cruise ships, windjammer sail boats, and cars. We
regularly backpack in most of the western mountain
ranges and have an active bowling league in the summer.
Although snow skiing is still the foundation and
primary interest of most members, some members have
never been skiing and may never go skiing. What Tulsa
Ski Club members have in common, though, is a desire to
go somewhere, do something, and get together regularly
to talk about the fun of it.
